"Design is a powerful
instrument for any organization, a means of stating
your intent and position in the market and impacting
your company's image on potential clients. An
intelligent application of design is a balance
of creative and business logic that is equally
clear as well as aesthetically pleasing."
"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." [Biblical Treasures]

Curitiba,
Brazil:
The
city of many people
Curitiba
is a synthesis of many cultures, brought by immigrants
from all over the world, who helped to build every bit
of the city from the second half of last century. Welcome
by this land which, at the time, had plenty of space
to offer, they retributed with their hard work, knowledge,
culture and traditions. This is why Curitiba is formed
by bits of many countries. A portion
of Italy, for instance, can be seen in Santa Felicidade,
in the architecture - that is where the Culpi house
is, the first one in the district, refurbished as a
Cultural Centre - as well as in the style of life, colourful
and happy.
Thousands arrive mainly during weekends to taste the
good food, good wine, pasta and other atractions of
the many restaurants and shops along Via Veneto.

There
is still a lot in Curitiba with a touch of German, Arab,
Japanese, Chinese, Swiss, Ucranian accents. The more
evident signs of those cultures are found in the architecture,
handcrafts and cooking. But in every corner of the city
there are the sons, grandsons and descendants of the
pioneers, perfectly integrated to a brazilian environment.
Proud of their origins, but curitibanos above everything
else. Curitiba - land of many people - should not show
to the foreign visitor only its cosmopolitan facet.
The internal migration flows established in Curitiba
the influence of other Brazilian States: people from
the North-east of Brazil, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Santa
Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Their presence can still
be felt nowadays in typical restaurants and Cultural/Recreational
Societies.

A
mosaic of bucolic landscapes, typical of life in the
agitated metropolitan life, coexist harmoniously. The
city has 1,6 million inhabitants which lead life in
as slightly different style from other brazilian capitals.
They enjoy the quality of life of a city that has attracted
professionals and technicians from everyhere for at
least there decades now, since the creation of a true
laboratory of ideas which changed the face of the city
and prepared it for the future.

The
main characteristic of Curitiba is soon discovered by
visitors: the innovative way in which old urban problems
were resolved, starting from the road network system.
The circulation within the urban area is quick and safe,
counting on a trinary road system with seggregated lanes
for public transport and parallel high speed lanes along
the structural sectors. The Integrated Transport Network
caters for more than 1,2 million passengers a day.
